POST 12: HIM & HER: mise-en-scene

(POST TWELVE)

HIM & HER

MISE-EN-SCENE

COSTUME & MAKEUP: Comfortable clothing, minimal and casual, realistic and relatable to many people in similar ages to the characters. The two main characters, Steve and Becky, are an almost stereotypical couple, their costume and makeup is important to highlight this, for example their laziness together is exaggerated by their minimal clothing when they are living in a messy environment.

CHARACTER EXPRESSION/ MOVEMENT: Realistic and relatable for people in relationships as they are comfortable with each other, it is also shows how they are both within a common environment which is relatable to many. The way they talk together is very casual and can be seen as comical. They are both comfortable with each other- this is also shown through each aspect of mise-en-scene. The camera work ties into the movement, as it is all mainly focused in on one area- Steve's apartment, this means that their laziness is highlighted by simple camera work that tends to follow the characters simple movements.
